More Christmas

I guess I'm in a Christmas card mood, because I've been making a bunch of them lately.  This one is new and different for me because it's the first time I've made an svg file by tracing a coloring page in Inkscape.  I'm very much a novice, and there were some parts I wasn't able to figure out (I left out part of the broom and part of the pipe), but I'm happy with how it came out.  I made several of this card to have on hand for Christmas, although I still have to add a sentiment and finish the inside.  Frosty was cut at 4.5 inches using my Cricut Explore.  The snowflake embossed circle is cut at 3.5 inches.  The snow border is from the Cricut Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge.

Another July Christmas Card

I made another Christmas card using this week's sketch from the Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I used a stamp from Craftin Desert Divas' Simply Holiday Word Art set.  The ornament is from the Create a Critter 2 cartridge, cut on my Cricut Explore.

Christmas in July

I'm sharing the card I made for this week's Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge.  I decided to make a Christmas card to get a jump on the holidays.  I love the sketch, and I'm sure I'll be using it again on my Christmas cards and others.  I'm not sure I like my paper choice on this card - it's a bit loud - so I might try it again with different papers.  My candy was cut from the Cricut Christmas Cheer cartridge using my Explore.  I edged the white border using the EK Success scalloped scallop punch, and the sentiment is from the CardzTV stamp set Tiny Tidings.

Mickey Mouse Birthday Card (CardzTV)

One of my favorite crafters to follow is Mary from CardzTV.  I watch her videos, I follow her blog, and I have a collection of her stamps (but not nearly enough).  When I need a card and don't have an idea, I head to her blog for inspiration.  And often, I find the perfect card, one that will not benefit from any tweaks or changes.  This adorable birthday card featuring Mickey Mouse is one of those - copied almost exactly from Mary's card, and I can't think of a thing I could do to improve on it.  Mary even provides all of her dimensions and cut sizes to make it easier to reproduce her cards.  I used the Cricut cartridge Mickey & Friends to cut Mickey, and (although you can't see it) on the inside I used a sentiment from the CardzTV stamp set Good Times that says "May all your birthday wishes come true."   Love it!

Ice Cream Cone Birthday Card

Today I made a "sweet" birthday card with a scrumptious looking ice cream cone and colors that say summer to me.  I used a sketch from the sketch challenge at My Favorite Things.  The ice cream cone was cut on my Cricut Explore using an svg file on my computer - it was a free file downloaded from the internet, but I don't remember from where - my apologies to the talented person who created the file.  The cherries came from the Cricut Create a Critter cartridge (they were part of a cupcake file).

Nuts for You Card

I liked the Mojo Monday sketch so much this week that I decided to make another card with it.  This one is for my husband.  I'm sticking with the Disney theme, using Chip this time.  All cuts are from the Mickey & Friends cartridge.

Mojo Monday 406

I wanted to share a card I made for the card sketch challenge over at  Mojo Monday this week.

Here's the sketch:

And here is the card I made using the sketch.  I used the Mickey and Friends cartridge to cut Mickey and the star on my Cricut Explore.  This is a pretty versatile card that could be used for lots of occasions, but I've decided to stamp a birthday sentiment inside.  I loved this sketch and can definitely see myself using it a lot in the future.  I'm also linking to the Birthday Linky Party at Craftin Desert Divas and to the Terrific Tuesday challenge at Scrappy Moms.

Holiday Gift Topper

I'm thinking about wrapping Christmas gifts in brown paper this year and decorating with festive toppers, tags and paper medallions.  I wrapped my husband's Father's Day gift that way last month because I didn't have any non-girly wrapping paper in the house, and it seemed like a great way to recycle all the brown paper grocery bags I have.  This is the first holiday gift topper I've made.  It seems early to be making them, but I never have time once the holidays get close.

I made the paper medallions by scoring and accordian-folding strips of patterned paper and securing with hot glue.  "Joy" was cut with my Cricut Explore from Create a Critter 2.  I'm linking this project to the Cut It Up challenges blog, where the challenge this week is to use a word or phrase as the focal point of your project.

Hang In There Card

I made this card for a friend who is undergoing cancer treatment.  The inside says - you guessed it - Hang In There!  I used my Cricut Explore for all of the cuts.  The palm tree came from Create a Critter, the cute little monkey is from Create a Critter 2, and the sun is from Mickey & Friends.

And since nothing says summer to me like a palm tree, I thought this card would also work well for the "Summer Trees" challenge at Bitten By the Bug 2.  I'm also linking to the Just Beachy! challenge at Cards in Envy.

25th Anniversary Card

We're going to a 25th anniversary party for my husband's cousin this weekend, and I knew the card I'd be making as soon as I saw this week's sketch (#236) on the MFT card challenge blog.  I used my Cricut Explore for all the cuts.  The mats are from Elegant Edges, the champagne flutes are from Stretch Your Imagination, and the heart and wavy banner are from Wild Card.  I used the Swiss Dots and D'Vine Swirls embossing folders from Cuttlebug and a Hearts embossing folder from Darice.

Mojo Monday 405 - Birthday Card

For my very first blog entry, I'm posting my take on this week's Mojo Monday Sketch (#405) - a simple birthday card for one of the many birthdays I have coming up this month.  The cupcake came from the Cricut Doodlecharms cartridge, and the sentiment is from the CardzTV Good Times stamp set.
